The Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council is proud to announce a new college scholarship program available to children of sworn BSO personnel attending Broward College. This scholarship will be available on July 1, 2016 for dependent children of Broward County Sheriff’s Office full-time sworn Department of Law Enforcement personnel, sworn Department of Detention personnel and sworn Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services personnel.

Students may apply for the Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council Annual Scholarship to help meet the costs of attendance, including tuition, fees and books. To be eligible for this scholarship fund, students may be enrolled full or part-time in any degree program, or be enrolled in any of the certifications offered by the Broward College Institute of Public Safety.

  1. The student first applies to BROWARD COLLEGE
  2. The family must fill out the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  3. The student fills out the Broward College SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION. Follow the drop down box to “Child of Sworn Law Enforcement Officer”.

The Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council has been serving the families of fallen or permanently disabled law enforcement officers and firefighters for 30 years through the provision of emergency funds and college scholarships. As a way to recognize the sacrifices that each and every sworn law enforcement officer or firefighter makes on a daily basis, this new scholarship fund has been established.
