Here's just a small sampling of the community projects we've worked on over the years.
bicycles for champions
This annual event is held to provide Holiday cheer, bicycles and safety equipment to specially selected Broward Country children. The event includes an Intracoastal cruise aboard a luxury Charter Yacht, a buffet lunch while on board, and a visit by Santa Claus. The children are then transported to a local school where they receive a bicycle, safety helmet, BSO approved lock, backpack, T-Shirt, and sneakers.
holiday food distribution
During the holiday season, dinners are provided to Broward County families that could not otherwise have them - with BSO and Broward Sheriffs Advisory Council personnel providing about 2,000 - 2,500 meals to families in need.
Teddy Bears for Trauma
The Broward Sheriffs Advisory Council supports victims of senseless tragedy through the distribution of Teddy Bears to local law enforcement agencies and fire departments.
You can help make Teddy Bears available to accident and trauma victims by making a donation to the Broward Sheriff's Advisory Council. Please click on the "Donate" button and enter the amount you wish to donate.
Police and Fire Departments provide Teddy Bears to accident and trauma victims worldwide. Cuddling teddy bears evokes a sense of peace, security and comfort. For trauma victims, especially children, a teddy bear that has been given to them by a fire fighter, paramedic or police officer helps lessen stress and the adverse psychological effects of trauma. It has been established that considerable comfort is obtained from cuddling, naming and speaking to a teddy bear.
